I am on a android nexus one phone running version 2.1. any streaming radio app stops playing/streaming after the screen locks. but it continues playing uninterrupted if the screen stays on. i am getting frustrated over this because its not a connection loss, and i like to listen as i go to sleep. i have tried xiialive, A Online radio, and stream furious.

Try playing music without the screen on and see if that works.

Streaming radio for android that works best on slower networks?

Truck driver with tmobile here, looking gor android ap streaming radio which will sill work on the edge network

You might want to try Tunein Radio. It allows you to choose the stream you are using. Most stations have streams as low as 32kbps and that should be low enough to work. Higher bit streams should work too, make sure you have background services that use data turned off if you don’t need them.

No as streaming anything requires an active internet connection, something no nano is able to do.

Do the radio stations produce the commercials? Or does a separate studio do that?

Posted by admin on February 15th, 2011 and filed under radio stations | 3 Comments »

I was wondering if the radio stations have voice talents that create the commercials for people who want to advertise. Or does another studio do the recording and then give it to the radio station to play?

I wasn’t sure if the radio station was a one stop shop or if I need to find someone to produce the recording separate from buying air/advertising time from the radio station.

Thanks for your help!

limited only. a few local advertisers might use such services. many will use a separate advertising agency which arranges that, either locally or nationally.

Why do radio stations interfere with each other?

Posted by admin on February 8th, 2011 and filed under radio stations | 5 Comments »

I’ve noticed that certain radio stations will have interference with others in close proximity to them. For example, 88.9 will have interference from 88.8, but why? If they’re both separate frequencies, how could they interfere with each other?

Radio stations are assigned frequencies which *aren’t* supposed to interfere with each other. (Also, if I’m not mistaken, the FM stations are spaced at 0.2 MHz difference, so it would be 88.7 and 88.9 rather than 88.8 and 88.9 frequencies.)

As to their being on different frequencies – The listed frequency is the station’s center frequency. To broadcast its audio, transmission of the signal is done on a narrow range of frequencies which are centered around the listed frequency.

Can an online radio show legally broadcast your telephone number?

Posted by admin on February 3rd, 2011 and filed under online radio | 2 Comments »

I called into an online radio show to make a comment. They didn’t like what I had to comment about and told everyone my phone number. People were broadcasting my number in the chat room too! Is it legal for them to just give out my number like that?

The radio show can not. It is against the law to do with out your permission.

Normally they give only your first name and City where you live.

How to save radio stations in a Hyundai Santa Fe?

Posted by admin on February 1st, 2011 and filed under radio stations | 2 Comments »

I have a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe and I don’t know how to save my favorite radio stations. I think the manual said to hold down the "band" button but I don’t see that button. Does anyone know?

Thank you!

Tune in the station you want to save and press the any of the channel select buttons, hold it for a few seconds and it will lock on. That button should always tune to that station after that until you do the save procedure again.
