What kind of setup do most fm or am radio stations use. What kind of mics, mixing boards, software and other equipment do they have. Also what companies do they get them from?
I hope this site will answer Your questions. It discusses construction etc.

Can u use an MP3 or MP4 player for storing podcasts from say radio stations so that u can listen to them later. Or do u need an ipod player.
If you can download the podcast as a music file (usually mp3 since that is the common format that most players will recognize) then you should be able to store it on any media player that plays that format. You will be able to transfer it to your player just like a music track.
The only difference may be within the player itself. If it is a long podcast, they player may start from the beginning each time you listen to it instead of remembering where you last left off.
I used to download radio podcasts and listen to them on my cell phone since it played mp3 files.
In dire need of work experience in media in the Louth, Meath, Down or Armagh area.
I am a fifth year student looking for a placement. My main interest would be radio producing or sound engineering. The placement is for one week in February 2010. Ive already contact places such as BBC, RTE, LMFM and many other stations in Dublin area too. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
why don’t you send them a nice covering letter with your academic CV?

I’m looking to move to washington. I’m looking for a job as a radio promotions director (the job I do in my current location) I need to know what some of the popular stations are there!
Tacoma is part of the Seattle-Tacoma Washington market, the #14 largest broadcasting market in the country.
To find out which stations are most popular, you will want to familiarize yourself with the ratings services of Arbitron.
To find out about trends in radio broadcasting, familiarize yourself with Radio & Records (Online at radioandrecords. com)
At radioandrecords, type in "Seattle" under market name. You will get a list of the most popular stations, and just as important for looking for a job, which company owns them.
You may find that individual stations may have a promotions director, or there may be one position for all of one company’s stations in that city.
Do some research on the following companies: CBS Radio, Entercom, Clear Channel. You may decide to work for one of them, or for another company, but if you don’t understand what those companies are, then you will not get started in the business.
I know nothing of you or your current job, so that is all either helpful or WAY too basic. Good luck to you!
I was wondering if all radio stations use a certain day each month to test the emergency broadcast system. We have many different radio stations on at work and it always seems that you hear tests on the same day.
I am in the United States.
Yeah, I think they have a certain window of time to conduct their tests each month.
I want to know if it’s common practice for radio stations to archive their daily playlists, and if they allow the public to view them. I’d like to get a list of what was played on someone’s birthday 10 years ago.
do to royalties which the artist receive, if there is a dispute they can find out exactly what song and at what time the song was played, but because the statute of limitation i think they only have records for the past 7 years and it is kept by a private corporation that oversees the radio station.
My dad wants to hear radio stations from Mexico, Oaxaca but I can’t seem to find a place where he can listen to them online. We live in Los Angeles and he want to listen to his home-town music. Does anybody know where I can go to so my dad could listen to different radio stations online?
He wants to listen to radio station only from the area Oaxaca, Mexico.
Please help.
Thank you.

I have a Radio Shack Pro-2018 scanner, and I was wondering if, and how I could pick up radio stations on it.
Where could I find a list of of conversions? Or is it simple, like if I want 107.7 then I put 107,700 in my scanner?
You want to listen to an FM broadcast station (like KABC hits 95)?
Forget it unless the scanner was specifically designed for this (I’ve not seen one that was). Why?
A police scanner is meant (primarily) to receive FM signals with a 5 KHz deviation, some (especially older ones) will accept up to a 15 KHz deviation. Anything more and the discriminator (the circuit that retrieves the audio from the signal) will clip and distort.
An FM broadcast station uses a 75 KHz deviation, impossible to receive on the scanner because it saturates the detector causing clipping and distortion, also the filter in the scanner would not pass the signal thru when it was being modulated because it would be constantly going outside the passband of the filter.
It would be the equivalent of turning your hearing aid up all the way and then standing directly in front of the speaker at a rock concert. It is sure to be loud but so distorted you wont understand a thing.
No harm in trying I suppose. Instead of programming in something like 155.805 for the local PD, you would put in 105.700 for FM 105.7 but I’ll bet that the scanner will return an error if you do.
