In writing, I want to mention the name of a radio station. Would I underline the radio station name or put it in quotes? How would you do Oldies 106.9?
You give it as such
"KRUD Radio, Moldy Oldies at 106.9"

I currently attend Illinois College of Liberal Arts in Jacksonville Illinois. I am apart of the IC Radio Club where we are looking to begin a radio station. As of now, funds is not the biggest of our issues because we need resources and options and information on where to look. We were thinking about something to UIC Radio, having a live stream. Can someone give me a few business, equipment companies, and other information on starting this project and getting it off the ground in less than 6 months?
Using linux and shoutcast this can be had in less than 6 days and the software costs nothing. Royalties on the other hand you would have to do some research on for sure. There’s been some wild royalty demands from labels to internet streams this last couple of years. It really threatened a lot of the small streaming sites because only the giants in the net stream industry would have been able to afford the costs per song per listener. I digress…
Technically speaking all it would take is a net connected (with decent bandwidth) Linux server running the Shoutcast DNAS application and of course liberal bandwidth with some decent size hard drives. Once the server is stood up, among some other things, you can actually have DJ’s control it from any location, say at their house, that’s pretty slick.
Being that you are at a school I bet you could find someone proficient in linux to assist if/when needed?

My partner and I have a cabin in a small town along the Washington coast, about a 3-hour drive from Seattle. We like to listen to the Seattle NPR affiliate (KUOW 94.9) but when we reach the coast the reception for this station fizzles out and blurs with another local station. Is there any way to get the KUOW signal without subscribing to satellite radio? Will installing an outdoor antenna guarantee reception? We bought a cheap indoor antenna but it seems to pull in the local station rather than the Seattle one.
Hi there…you could listen live even at low bandwidth with dial-up modem as well as broadband if you have an Internet connection there at the cabin: http://www.kuow.org/listen/listen_live.asp
I have recently become interestied in starting a radio station but i wish to know a good age to start and some good places, also i wish to know how to become an offical radio station and get the items needed to start one.
You need an FCC license first. Current penalties for operating a radio station without a license are anywhere from 1.80 per day to 10,000 dollars per day.
You need a radio tower too. That will cost you quite a bit. Im not sure how much, but i know just the warning signs you have to put on it cost about 400 dollars for all of them. The tower Im guessing will cost about 200,000 dollars (and im getting this because this is what i heard it cost to build a tower in the domincan republic. Actually now that i think about it, it will probably cost more than 200k since labor is cheaper there. If you decide to run off the AM stations, im sure its considerably cheaper and less expensive.
A girl I know works as a promotion assistant for a radio station and wanted to recommend me a job for that same position as well and she said she makes about $25 an hour. Does this sound right? I thought that radio station jobs do not pay well.
Because radio station jobs seem like they don’t pay well my POINT of this question was to ask if anyone else who is in the industry or knows about it can tell me if getting paid 25 dollars an hour to start sounds reasonable. Thank you so much!
Any job in entertainment will be hard to get. Starting out you will be paid little more than minimum especially at a small station.
I was wondering if any one knew of a radio station good for the Christmas holiday. I would like to listen to Christmas music and perhaps Christmas stories. I like in southern Colorado, and I do not have XM radio. I only have traditional radio: AM & FM.
do an internet search for stations near you.
You might like jt indie’s Christian music podcast
oops Christmas music I should have read more closely

I have this revolutionary idea that will totally transform the radio landscape. I’m going to hire a bunch of low-level producers and weekend hosts from local stations and launch an Internet-only sports radio station. I might get a stuttering boxer and former fire department official to help out, as well.
Does my idea sound good? What problems should I expect?
Make sure you hire a cocktail waitress with a giant head to be your executive producer. She should be young, maybe 25. After all, that is halfway to thirty.
I just got one of those new iPods that have radio on them, and i was just wondering how you change the radio station. I can’t seem to figure it out… Pleasee help me!
I think you push the rewind or fast forward button.
I have a small home recording studio. I record my digital piano directly into my laptop. Recently, I relocated to another country, and now when I start up my laptop I hear a radio station distinctly playing through the speakers of my computer system. Also, I have heard various clicking sounds at times. Is there some unit or device that can remove unwanted radio and electrical signals from interfering with my recording?
Is it interfering with your recording or is it just coming through external speakers? If it’s just with the speakers, You can use ferrite clamp-on chokes if you are using coaxial type (round) speaker cable. If you are using 2-conductor zip (flat) cord, you can use ferrite cores.
What is it you are hearing in the speakers? Is it music or voice? If voice, is it understandable or is it kinda muffled and sounds like a duck on helium? If it is the later, it’s a Ham radio operator, probably operating on high power. He (or she) might be willing to help you with the problem. If your speakers use 2-conductor zip cord. You can also put a 47 pf capacitor across each speaker jack.
Hey I am a big fan of leona lewis, and i love her music. Do any of ya’ll know by any chance what radio station her songs come on mostly?
