How do you trace or track down a radio signal?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010 and filed under radio | 3 Comments »

If i am in contact with a radio, how can I trace the location of the radio? Is there a way to geolocate a radio signal. I dont have any of the radios information, and am and will be unable to get any information regarding the equipment. However, I am in communications with that radio. How would I go about being able to find where the radio is located? Is there any sort of special equipment that I can use to geolocate it?

Using a directional antenna such as a loop or a beam antenna (Yagi or log periodic) rotate the antenna and note in what direction the signal peaks. If this is done from two positions (triangulation) then the transmitter is at the intersection of the two bearings as drawn on a chart.

Is there an all Christmas music radio station in portland?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010 and filed under radio music | 1 Comment »

Is there an all Christmas music radio station in portland? If so, which radio station is it? Or what about northern California? I’m driving form Seattle to Mesa, Az and i would like to listen to christmas music all the way down the coast. Please give me all the radio stations you know.

I know you’re probably referring to Portland, Oregon…though you didn’t specify. But do you know there is also Portland, Maine. I just had a situation this morning where someone didn’t even know Portland, Maine was in the US…they thought it was in Canada. But one thing I know is that both Portlands are in the US. Though, about your question….a lot of radio stations start playing mostly Christmas music a few days before Christmas….so just by flipping thru the dial, you’ll get one you like with Christmas music. Merry Christmas.

How do I start an Online Radio Station?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010 and filed under online radio | 1 Comment »

I have 20+ years of radio programming and would like to launch a site that streams music content and DJs and eventually has ads. Looking for an affordable turn key solution where I can create content with Musicmaster or Selector at my home that will stream online, possibly have a listener cap to avoid outrageous license fees until I can attract sponsor or investor. Where do I start?

Hi there,
I just started a business called Investifieds. We connect entrepreneurs like yourself and investors. It’s located at www.investifieds.com. It’s free and we are marketing to media investors.
Best of luck!

How can I add a Streaming Radio Station to my myspace?

Posted by admin on February 24th, 2010 and filed under streaming radio | 1 Comment »

I am the PD for my University radio station, and we would like to have our station stream on our Myspace. We already stream online, and use realplayer. I just think it would be cool to add our stream to the Myspace page so that users could hear us, and not the same artist playing all the time. Please help, and Thanks!

I’m pretty sure you can do that. All you’d have to do is copy the address of your stream then put it in a simple embed code. Just add this code to your myspace:

<embed src="STREAMS_ADDRESS.ram" width="300" height="150">

You can change the width and height to however big or small you want your player to be. If you’re streaming with realplayer, this will make a small embed realplayer. Good luck with getting this up and running.
